Out with the old...in with the new

It's that time of the year again. New Year's Resolutions. "I want to lose weight this year." "I'm gonna' hit the gym every day this year." "I want to get a better job this year." "I'm going to have a more positive attitude this year."

Shut up.
You're lying. You are not going to spend two hours a day on that elliptical machine.
You are not going to count every calorie and burn every inch of cellulite off your body.
You are not going to stay positive and be happy every single day of the year.

You know how I know this is true? It happens every single year. To everybody, really. You meet with your girlfriends or bros and discuss your new year's resolutions and goals over mimosas or hot wings. To finally fit into that size 4 dress hanging in your closet. (Not gonna happen.) To finally make enough money to begin paying off your student loans. (Ha...seriously?) To get all A's in your classes. (I seriously just laughed out loud.)

I know this may sound like I'm being pessimistic (I am) but it's the truth. I've decided that I'm not making any ridiculous resolutions this year. Instead, I'm just going to say that I will make this year better than 2011 in every way possible. So...if I decide I need to fit into that size 4 dress hanging in my closet, by God, I'll make it happen. If I decide I need a job that actually does put some money in my bank account, it's gonna happen. Resolutions don't usually last past January 2nd. (Sometimes even past January 1st...let's be honest) So, instead of becoming a victim of the depressing truth of making new year's resolutions, I shall simply enjoy my life and aspire to be the best I can be (and all that other cliche stuff).

Best wishes to errbody for 2012. I have a feeling it's gonna be an awesome year!
